REI’s End of Season Clearance event kicks off on Wednesday, March 1 (Thursday, March 2 for camping gear) and will continue until supplies last. It’s important to note that this isn’t a standard REI sale—the clearance deals are less defined, and sizing and colorway options are a little more limited overall. With that in mind, we advise buying early since many products will likely sell out quickly. The good news is that you can shop either in-store or online at REI.com (the latter offers the best availability) to take advantage of the savings, including up to 60% off designs from leading brands like Outdoor Research, Black Diamond, REI Co-op, NEMO, Arc’teryx, Helly Hansen, and more. Our Favorite End of Season Clearance Deals
REI Co-op: Up to 60% Off
Considering they’re hosting the sale, it comes as little surprise that REI is offering a ton of standout discounts on their in-house outerwear collections. On the ski side, their First Chair GTX and Powderbound lineups—which include both jacket and pant/bib styles—are discounted by 30% for men and 40% for women. In deciding between the two, the First Chair is the more performance-focused option with proven Gore-Tex waterproofing in an uninsulated, 2-layer construction, while the cheaper Powderbound is packed with 60- and 80-gram polyester for frigid days inbounds.

Outdoor Research: Up to 60% Off
Seattle-based Outdoor Research knows a thing or two about wet weather, and we’re excited to see some of their leading rain and ski shells discounted significantly. One standout is the Helium Rain Jacket (60% off), which earned the title as our top ultralight/emergency rain jacket this year thanks to its good overall protection and toughness in a feathery 6.3-ounce package (for the men’s jacket). For a more multi-sport-friendly option, we like the Foray II (60% off) and women’s Aspire II (40% off), which feature upgraded Gore-Tex waterproofing, comfortable interiors, and full-length side zippers for dumping heat quickly while on the move.

Arc’teryx is a leader in technical mountain apparel, but their products rarely—if ever—come cheap. The good news is that some of their most popular offerings are discounted during REI’s end-of-season clearance event, starting with the legendary Atom LT Hoody (and women’s Atom Hoody), which are 20% off. Our top-rated synthetic jacket for years running, the Atom offers excellent warmth for its weight, is supremely comfortable, and boasts the decidedly sleek and attractive look that Arc’teryx is known for. Helly Hansen: Up to 30% Off
Norway-based Helly Hansen specializes in ski outerwear and mountain-ready shells, and we’re excited to see them well represented at this year’s end-of-season clearance event. One of their most popular designs—and a favorite of ours for several years—is the Alpha 3.0 Jacket (20% off), which checks all the boxes we look for in a capable resort-ready design. Highlights include quality PrimaLoft insulation that takes the sting out of chilly chairlift rides, great freedom of movement with four-way stretch, and clean styling that looks great. Black Diamond’s discounts are relatively few compared to most of the other brands here, but there are still some quality deals worth having on your radar. First is 30% off many of their leading gloves and mittens, from the ultra-warm and waterproof Mercury Mittens and Guide Gloves to the backcountry-ready Cirque and Tour gloves. Other Details on the REI Co-op End of Season Clearance
There are a few ways to buy during REI’s End of Season Clearance event. If you live near a brick-and-mortar REI, you can shop in store. This is a great way to try on gear and clothing in person and make sure you’re getting the right fit. If an item is not in stock at your store, a sales representative can place the order for you online—you’ll have the option of picking it up in store or having it shipped to your home address. Alternatively, those who prefer to shop at home can make purchases directly through REI.com. Shipping is free on orders over $50 (members get free shipping regardless of the total), and you also have the option of sending your order to your local store for free pickup. Regardless of how you choose to shop, all items are covered by REI’s 100% Satisfaction Guarantee and can be returned either by mail or in store—with a few exceptions—within one year of purchase for members (non-members have a 90-day return window).
